I saw this story the other day about how people didn't know about this feature on their iPhone even though it had been there for a long time. I sometimes discover new things about my phone even after I've had it for years and it feels good to know I'm not the only one this happens too. It seems like it's fairly common to get a phone, download a few apps, and then kind of just forget to keep learning new things we can do with it.
Like when Siri came out I used it a little bit but got frustrated when I would tell Siri to call a phone number and it wouldn't work or Siri would get the number wrong. I went back to just dialing the number. (I was driving cab so often I'm dialing numbers to call a customer that's not in my address book on my phone)
I also noticed Siri only worked with a data connection available and I didn't like the idea of sending out more information to Apple all the time and sometimes Siri wouldn't work fast enough if I was on the move or out of a good service area.
So I just gave up on Siri, but the other day I went to finally disable Siri on my phone and realized that the phone does have voice control capabilities that work when Siri is disabled, I assume this should work for dialing numbers and doing searches on your phone (things that shouldn't require a data connection.) I still haven't used it much, but it seems cool. Comment if you've tried it.
